SMF "Fighting Gravity" DVD Review

Intro
Being a Basher is great fun and I find myself wanting to take things further into my hobby! I started forming group bashing sessions and after seeing SMF's videos it inspired me and I am sure in saying, many others too. Such as Will from BSC or some of the Maxx Damage guys! Making videos now has come on along way, the cream of R/C video makers seem to be battling it out for titles such as best editing job, biggest air, and the funniest. This keeps the Videos competitive and makes everyone do bigger and better bashing videos for there viewers, until now. SMF, being the first out of the cream to produce a DVD! Have just taken one massive step up the ladder and left there competition in the dark until they do the same!

Fighting Gravity!
First off, good name, its catchy, and blends in with the theme of the DVD. The fact that SMF actually seem to fight gravity is a big part in the DVD, and those too words stick out in the back of your head throughout the DVD!

POSTMAN!
Ok, so its 6:00am on the Saturday morning, when I hear the letterbox go downstairs. Being so early and since my Brain wasn't switched on I thought nothing of it! After trying for a good hour to get back to sleep again, I failed, and decided to go get a drink. As I walk down the stairs I see a Jiffy bag, with a label SMF on it. I physically jump the rest of the stairs race into my bedroom again, and rip the jiffy bag open, tearing the letter inside! Oppss. Sorry Brad. So forgetting its only 7am, I turn surround sound on and start watching, after a few seconds, I remember, SHIT, its early! So, I whip the DVD out again, and I slam it into my laptop, then plug my headphones in! After some Vibrant noises and a slow into, you really get those two words drilled into you! Fighting Gravity! After a ton of editing , flashing effects and noise. A Menu appears, as your eyes are drawn to the bottom you see phrases like Ski Jump, On Fire and Barn jump, you have to resist and watch it from the beginning!

ME WATCHING DVD (Sorry not telling you what happens, you got to buy it!)

The Content
After watching the DVD, and now looking back at it, you really do tend to notice what an excellent job on the editing and making Brad has really done. All the effects and transitions are all very smooth and the only hic up through the whole DVD is where the switch is made between the intro and the menu! Another important factor is it isn't over edited, many videos you find on the internet, have so many effects and transitions in them its hard on your eyes and you really dont see the stunts properly! The DVD really does show you the footage in a smart and professional manner, and if you see a fancy effect in a chapter, it'll be only once or twice, not every two seconds! Expect Slow-motion, fades and reversed motion. These are all good effects and look very good when blended into a chapter in the way Brad has done it!
The actual footage is very clear indeed, its certainly upto the DVD standard you expect, no worries there. Its sharp, clear, the lightning is good, and most of the footage is done in sunny conditions, or Snow! So the trucks are very easily viewable! The Bashing in the DVD is to the highest standard, as always they dont fail to impress on that side of things! My personal favourite parts were the last few chapters. They really are things that have never been done before! Taking R/C's off Ski Jumps, Over 26 foot high barns and through fire! You certainly wont be disappointed! The music is also another fantastic future, its all timed to it, and the music for the Ski Jump, Fire and Barn Jump chapters, are all the best tracks on the DVD< so you can see its all been planned out very carefully!

MY UNHAPPY RANT
I'm afraid nothing is perfect, and I hope non-of you guys dont have ago at me for what I'm about to say but...... The quality of the bashing is excellent, but in some/alot of the DVD, is old footage which you can watch in the videos SMF currently host and display on there website! I am sure I am not the only person to say this, but if I were to pay $20, I'd want all new footage personal! The only piece of old footage I enjoyed watching was Good Jump Bad Jump, which is a classic and legendary video from the SMF crew on! Another annoying part in the DVD, is the watermark. It constantly spins, turns, moves about, which distracts you in some of the more not so extreme parts! I am not saying this is a really bad factor for everyone, just my personal experience! Last but no means least, is the fact we dont see any of you guys! Its always good to see some of you guys on film, so we can put names to faces, but at the minute, all us public have to go by is B and doesgo, or some other trick name! Please guys next time, capture yourselves on the DVD and stop being so camera shy! :-P!

THE FINALE
Ok, well I shall finish just by complimenting the SMF guys, all there families and anyone who starred or help make this DVD. You all did a great job, and the R/C bashers of the world owe you credit! For those of you that haven't seen the DVD, yes, they did clear the barn ;-)!

Good Luck to SMF from all of TM, and best wishes for the future!
